Hi there…

Yes,

It’s been a while since we’ve updated this blog, but life get on the way sometimes and it’s hard to manage everything at the same time. However, this project is still on the process, and it gets better by the day. We need to know and make the city feel that there is a community interested in this kind of “extreme” sports. There are so many good things that will come out of this project, and because of that we need your support.

Just imagine you, your friends, your children, your grandkids and everyone who is interested in these kind of sports, having the opportunity to grab their board, skates, bikes, helmets and be able to enjoy their favorite sport at  a safe, clean, and appropriate environment.

We are very excited about this! Are you? All these kind of projects take time and if we had the money in cash right now, in our pockets, all we would have to do is make a call and get someone down here to build us a park. But we don’t. And that is why my friends is taking longer than we wish. So once again, if you have a few extra bucks or you know your mom or dad, or grandpa, aunt, business partner etc, would love to donate some towards this project, our park fund will fill quicker and the quicker it does, the faster we get that park built.

Thank you!

Update and donation letter

Good Morning all,

We had a great meeting with the Park and Rec. board of Tuscaloosa yesterday. They are excited for us to make this happen. There will be a planning committee meeting at Little Italy Pizza on The Strip this Sunday at 3:00pm. EVERYONE IS WELCOME!

Also, there is the following donation request letter. If you would like to help us raise money, please make a copy and give the letter to whoever you think might be willing to help. All donations will be handled by the PARA Foundation and are tax deductible.

Dear Friends,

The skateboarders, freestyle inline skaters, and BMX bike riders of Tuscaloosa are writing to you on behalf of the Tuscaloosa Skatepark Committee. The goal of our organization is for Tuscaloosa to have a safe, sanctioned place for skaters and BMX bikers to exercise their hobby. A large community of skaters and bikers live in Tuscaloosa, and currently, our town does not have a skatepark. It is estimated that 4.6 % of a county’s population will ride a skateboard in a given year. Tuscaloosa County has a population of 194,656 people. This means that approximately 8954 people in Tuscaloosa will potentially use this new skating and biking facility. There is already a Facebook group entitled Tuscaloosa Needs a Skatepark which has generated an abundance of positive support. The Park and Recreation Association (PARA) is behind our idea, and they have informed us that we need to start raising money in order to make the Tuscaloosa skatepark a reality. Your donation, whether big or small, will help us get closer to achieving our goal of $300,000.

Our community is very eager and excited to see this project succeed. You can be a part of this excitement by supporting our youth with a monetary donation to The PARA Foundation. We are a non-profit organization, so you can be assured that one hundred percent of your donation will go toward the construction of the new Tuscaloosa skatepark. Furthermore, your donation will be tax deductible. If it is your wish, your name can be recognized on our website and at our numerous fundraising and awareness events.

The Tuscaloosa Skatepark Committee would like to thank you for considering partnering with our organization. If you have any queries regarding our organization, our fund management policy, or the project itself, please feel free to contact us at the return address given on the envelope or by e-mail at maze920@yahoo.com. You can also contact PARA at (205) 562-3220. If you would like to support our project you can donate by Paypal on Tuscaloosa PARA’s website which is www.tcpara.org, or by mail to:

The PARA Foundation
(Skatepark Fund)
PO Box 2496
Tuscaloosa, AL 35401

Whether you use Paypal or mail your check please make sure that you clearly designate that you would like your donation to be used for the skatepark.

Thanks,

The skating and BMX community of Tuscaloosa

Have you …?

Have you told your friends, family, coworkers, classmates, teammates, and all the people you know about the project to build a skatepark in Tuscaloosa?

If you haven’t, please do. The more people to know the more support we get.  Tell them about this site and they’ll be up to date with what is going on.

Also, don’t forget to leave comments or suggestions you may have.

Thanks!

Who is this?

So I got the scoop about the “skating show” thing and yes the person who runs this blog doesn’t know anything about skateboarding. Really, I don’t. All I really know is that there is skateboarding, in-line skating, and BMX, and I also know who Tony Hawk and Shawn White are. That’s it. BUT I am trying to educate myself about all the skateboarding deal. As a matter of fact, I’m writing this while watching the Dew Tour.

Anyway, the main reason why I am here is to help. To get as much as information possible to make everything easier at the time of decision making; and also, to pass information to you.

Please bear with me and thanks for voting in the polls.
